Well known director Ram Gopal Varma directing Upendra is not new. The announcement was made last year during Upendra’s birthday (September 18th) itself. Now RGV has titled the film as ‘R’ and the new film is likely to start soon.
Like his previous films, Ram Gopal Varma has based ‘R’ on underworld again. This time the director will be telling the story of a unique gangster in the criminal history of India. RGV has released many teasers of the film through his twitter account and has shared some details about the film.
‘The police themselves were scared of R and also sometimes used to take the help of R. Dawood Ibrahim was in awe of R and R helped the D Company many times in Dubai. R was a daredevil gangster who was not scared of anyone in the world and the most successful of all the gangsters in India’ says RGV in a series of Tweets.
This is not the first time that RGV is directing a Kannada film. The maverick director had ealier directed ‘Killing Veerappan’ starring Shivarajkumar a few years ago. Now, RGV is back to Kannada films once again with ‘R’. The new film is directed by Ray Yadav Davanagere under A Square Productions.
Upendra is currently busy with ‘Kabzaa’ and has also announced his directorial ‘UI’ which is likely to start soon.
