It was India Screens which first disclosed two days back, that ‘Tagaru’ and ‘Salaga’ fame producer K P Srikanth along with Lahari Films will be producing Upendra’s new directorial. The film has been officially announced on Friday and the film has been titled as ‘UI’.

Upendra himself took to social media to announce his new film. The actor dedicated the film to his fans saying that, ’In the film industry it is you who created the story ‘Upendra’. It is you who wrote the screenplay and dialogues for 33 years. It is you who directed through your whistles and claps. I dedicate this film to you the ‘Praja Prabhu’ fan’ tweeted Upendra.

Upendra is one of the finest directors of Kannada cinema and has directed films like ‘Shhh’, ‘Om’, ‘A’, ‘Upendra’, ‘Super’, ‘Uppi 2’ amongst others. After ‘Uppi 2’, Upendra had taken a break from direction and was busy with acting. The fans have been urging throughout that Upendra must return back to direction. Now Upendra has finally announced that he will be directing a film.

‘UI’ is expected to go on floors in the month of May. Sources say, Upendra will be launching the film in the month of April. More details about the cast and crew are yet awaited.
