There has been news that Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar’ which was released 20 years ago, will have a sequel soon and director Anil Sharma is busy scripting the film. The director on Friday has finally announced the sequel of ‘Gadar’ called ‘Gadar 2’ and has also released a motion poster of the film.

‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’ is an iconic period film which was released in 2001. The film which was set during the Partition of India in 1947 had Sunny Deol playing the role of Tara Singh, a truck driver, who falls in love with a Pakistani girl called Sakina.  The film which was released along with ‘Lagaan’ went on to become a blockbuster.  After two decades of release, the film will finally get a sequel.

‘Gadar 2’ stars Sunny Deol along with Ameesha Patel once again. The film will also star Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh Sharma in the lead role along with Sunny Deol. Utkarsh had played the role of Sunny’s son in the original film and will be continuing his role in the sequel. 

The film is jointly produced by Zee Studios and Anil Sharma Productions. The film is written by Shaktiman Talwar who had written the original. The film will be launched soon and will be released in 2022.
