S S Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ has finally released on Friday in more than 120 theaters across Karnataka.

Earlier, KVN Productions which has acquired the distribution rights of the film for the state had planned to release the film in a large number of theaters. However, a crisis started regarding the sharing of theaters between ‘RRR’ and ‘James’ which was released last week. ‘James’ producer Kishore Pathikonda accused that many of the theaters which are screening ‘James’ have been hijacked by ‘RRR’.

After many meetings, it was decided that out of the 500 plus theaters in Karnataka, ‘James’ must get 280 theaters followed by ‘RRR’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’ with 120 and 100 theaters respectively.

With less number of theaters, the distributors had no other option than increasing the number of shows per screen. So, shows started from 12.30 AM itself in some theaters in Bangalore. Many theaters started shows from 4’o clock in the early morning. The distributors are hoping to cover up the investment as soon as possible.

‘RRR’ stars Junior NTR and Ramcharan Teja along with Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan, Samudrakani and others. S S Rajamouli has scripted the film based on the story of his father Vijayendra Prasad. ‘RRR’ is a PAN-Indian film being released simultaneously in five different languages. The film is produced by VV Danayya under DVV Entertainments
