‘Sheela’ is an women empowerment film says Ragini

It’s been four years since a film of Ragini has been released. Now the actress is all set to make a comeback with a new film called ‘Sheela’ which is all set to hit the screens on July 28th.

‘Sheela’ is a bilingual and will be released in Kannada and Malayalam simultaneously. Balu Narayanan has directed the film apart from scripting it. D M Pillai is the producer. Recently, the first look poster of the film was released in Bangalore.

Speaking about the film, ‘‘Sheela’ is a story about the journey of a woman. The film has been made in two languages because is a journey between Karnataka and Kerala. We have shot a film in a 150 year old estate in Kerala. My character has various shades and is very challenging to portray the character. The role has all type of emotions and it took me some time to mould into my character’ says Ragini.

The actress says the film is not based on any real story but inspired from various incidents that a woman faces in the society. ‘It is not only about the men, it’s about the circumstances. Few incidents make her fight for her own rights. There are no horror elements in it. It has both emotions as well as action’ says Ragini.

Producer D M Pillai terms ‘Sheela’ as a women empowerment film. ‘The protagonist goes to Kerala to sell her property. What all she faces there and how does she comes out of it forms the crux of the film. It’s all about a woman fighting against the evil. This is a real woman empowerment story’ says D M Pillai.

‘Sheela’ stars Ragini Dwivedi, Avinash, Shobharaj, Riaz Khan, Chitra Shenoy, Mahesh Nair, Sripathi and others in prominent roles.
