Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has said that late actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be conferred the ‘Karnataka Ratna’ on the 01st of November on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Bommai who was speaking after inaugurating the annual Independence Day Flower Show at Lalbagh Glass House declared, ‘We have decided to confer Karnataka Ratna Award to Puneeth Rajkumar on November 01st. We will be soon forming a committee consisting of Dr. Rajkumar’s family members’ said Bommai in his speech.

This year’s flower show pays a special floral tribute to Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar. Puneeth’s brothers Shivarajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar, wife Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar were also present at the occasion.

Puneeth Rajkumar died of a massive heart attack on the 29th of October in Bangalore. Just a few days after his death, the Chief MInister announced in Puneetha Namana (an event organised to pay homage to the late actor) that the actor will be awarded the Karnataka Ratna posthumously.

Likewise, the award will be given to his wife on his behalf on the 01st of November. Puneeth will be the 10th recipient of the State’s highest civilian honour.
