University of Mysore will be conferring Honorary Doctorate to late actor Puneeth Rajkumar posthumously for his contribution to the field of cinema and for his philanthropic works.
Pro Hemanth Rao, Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore announced on Sunday that the late actor will be honored with a doctorate posthumously.
Puneeth Rajkumar is the fourth personality from the Dr. Rajkumar family to be conferred an Honorary Doctorate. Earlier, Puneeth’s father Dr Rajkumar, mother Parvathamma Rajkumar and brother Shivarajkumar were conferred honorary doctorates from various universities for their contribution to the field of cinema.
Dr Rajkumar is regarded as the first actor to be conferred a honorary doctorate way back in 1976. Shivarajkumar was conferred the doctorate in 2014 by Sri Krishnadevaraya University of Bellary followed by Parvathamma Rajkumar who was conferred the doctorate in 2015 by Bangalore University.
The Mysore University authorizes have already reached out to Puneeth’s wife Ashwini regarding this and she has agreed to receive the doctorate on behalf of Puneeth on March 22nd during the 102nd convocation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has also announced Karnataka Ratna award to Puneeth Rajkumar posthumously and the award will be conferred soon.
