Just when the fans are urging the Government to award Puneeth Rajkumar to be awarded a Padma Shri posthumously, actor and Puneeth’s brother Shivarajkumar has said that Puneeth is immortal in the hearts of his fans and that love is bigger than any of the awards.

In the last few days there is a huge demand from all the sections of the society that Puneeth must be awarded a Padma Shri posthumously. Not only from the general public, but Ministers of the Karnataka Government, Anand Singh and B C Patil has also urged the Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai to recommend the Central Government for awarding Puneeth Rajkumar a Padma Shri posthumously for his contribution to the Indian cinema.

As the demand for the award is increasing, Shivarajkumar has said that Padma Shri is just a title and Puneeth is ‘Amara Shri’ (immortal) in the hearts of the people.

Speaking to mediapersons on Monday, ‘Appu is like a son to me. I was 13 years when he was born. His death has created a permanent vacuum in our lives. We can cry our hearts out, but the pain will be for the rest of our lives. Not only us, but for fans also. He is immortal in people’s hearts. Padma Shri is just a title. But much bigger than that is the love of the people. He continues to live in the hearts of them and is immortal’ said the actor. Puneeth Rajkumar died of cardiac arrest on the 29th of October and has been cremated at the Kanteerava Studio in Bangalore.
