Maniratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ joins the bandwagon of films such as ‘Baahubali’, ‘KGF’, ‘Pushpa’ and others. The film which earlier started off as a single film, will now be releasing in two parts.
Lyca Productions which is producing the film officially announced through a new title poster, that the film will be releasing in two different parts. The poster features a stylish sword and a shield decorated with the head of a roaring tiger, which is a symbol of the Chola Kingdom. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is a historical drama set during the reign of Chola Dynasty. Lyca Productions has confirmed that both the parts will be released in 2022.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is adapted from Kalki’s popular Tamil novel of the same name. Though many including attempted to make this film, none could succeed to various reasons and now Maniratnam is all set to bring the golden era on screen. He has assembled an ensemble star cast for the film including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi amongst others.
The shooting for the film will be resuming in Pondicherry with many actors including Aishwarya Rai and others joining the crew.
