One of the many roles that made Mammootty very famous is the iconic Sethurama Iyer from the CBI series. After 17 years, Mammootty is back as Sethurama Iyer in the 05^th edition of the CBI series.

‘CBI 5 – The Brain’ was launched a few months back. The shooting for the film is almost complete and on Wednesday evening, Mammooty has shared the teaser of the film. The teaser gives us a glimpse into the new case that Iyer is investigating.

This investigative thriller tries to find a common element with the deaths of Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. The teaser starts with a voice-over of Sethurama Iyer followed by the iconic background music of the CBI series.

As the title itself suggests, this is the fifth installment of the CBI series and the film comes after 17 years after the release of the fourth film ‘Nerariyan CBI’ which was released in 1985. The first of the series was ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ which was released in 1988 followed by ‘Jagratha’ in 1989 and ‘Sethurama Iyer CBI’ in 2004. ‘CBi 5 – The Brain’ is directed by K Madhu and written by S N Swamy. The film stars Mammootty, Mukesh, Jagathy Sreekumar, Asha Sharath and others. The film is produced by Appachan under the Swargachitra banner.
