Veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty on August 06th completed 50 years in the film industry. Many actors, technicians and fans took to social media to congratulate the veteran actor who is fondly known as Mammukka in film circles.
Mammootty made his first screen appearance as a child artist in ‘Anubhavangal Paalichakal’ released in 1971. The film directed by K S Sethumadhavan starred Sathyan, Prem Nazeer, Sheela amongst others. Mammootty recently shared a colour-corrected version of a screen grab from the film.
Mammootty’s contemporary Mohan Lal shared a photo of his along with Mamootty and congratulated his ‘brother’ for completing 50 years in the industry. The photo features Mohan Lal hugging Mammootty and kissing him on his cheek.
‘Today, my brother completes 50 glorious years in the film industry. I feel so proud to have shared the screen with him in 55 memorable films and looking forward to many more. Congratulations Ichakka!’ tweeted Mohan Lal.
Prithviraj Sukumaran also congratulated Mammootty for the rare feat. ‘50 years of absolute commitment to the craft and medium. Half a century of World Cinema’s greats!’ wrote Prithviraj.
