The Maharashtra Government has permitted the reopening of theaters and multiplexes in the state with effect from the 22nd of October. The theaters have to operate with Standard Operating Procedures and the seating capacity will be announced soon.
The decision to allow theaters to reopen came after the delegation of producer Jayantilal Gada, director Rohith Shetty met and other representatives of the producers, distributors and exhibitors sector Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the reopening of theaters in Maharashtra.
The decision has given a big relief to the film industry and particularly the theater and multiplexes, which have been closed because of the pandemic and the lockdown. With the announcement, many big producers including Aditya Chopra, Sajid Nadiadwala and others have announced the release date of their new films.
Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ which has been waiting for a release for the past one and a half years and which has been postponed multiple times will be releasing during the Diwali season. Akshay Kumar himself took to Twitter to announce the release date of his forthcoming film and thank Uddhav Thackeray for reopening of cinema halls.
‘So many families would be thanking Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashtra from Oct 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi – Aa rahi hai Police’ wrote the actor.
