Veteran actor M S Umesh who has acted in more than 600 films has recently completed 62 years in the Kannada film industry. To mark the occasion, the KFCC recently felicitated the veteran actor for his service.
Umesh who is fondly known as Umeshanna came to Kannada film industry as a child actor through B R Panthulu’s ‘Makkala Rajya’ which was released in 1960. The film was released on the 12th of August in not only Kannada, but also in Telugu and Tamil also. Umesh made his mark as an actor in his debut film also.
After that, the actor made a reentry with Puttanna Kanagal’s ‘Katha Sangama’ which was released in 1976. Umesh not only received wide acclaim for his performance in the film, but also won the best supporting actor from the Government of Karnataka. After that, there was no turning back for the actor and M S Umesh went on to act in films like Dr Rajkumar’s ‘Shruthi Seridaga’, ‘Golmaal Radhakrishna’ and others. Umesh is still remembered for his character called Seethapathi in ‘Golmaal Radhakrishna’.
Umesh who is a veteran of more than 600 films says he is not getting enough roles in the last few years and new directors must thinking of casting senior actors in their films. He thanks the directors, producers and patrons for supporting him all these years as an actor in Kannada film industry.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Ba Ma Harish, ex-president H D Gangaraju, Jaijagadish, Sundarraj, M N Kumar and others were present during the felicitation held in the KFCC building in Bangalore. Another veteran actor Bangalore Nagesh was also felicitated during the occasion.
