Malayalam, Other Languages, OTT

The issues regarding the release of Mohan Lal’s most anticipated film ‘Marakkar’ has finally been resolved. The makers who had earlier planned to release the film in OTT have now opted for a direct theatrical release and the film will now release on the 02nd of December in theaters.

‘Marakkar’ was supposed to release in March last year. However, due to the pandemic the film’s release was delayed multiple times. The team had planned to release the film in December, but due to an issue about the money sharing process between the producer and the exhibitors in Kerala, the producer had opted for a direct OTT release.

Not only ‘Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham’ (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea), four other films of Mohan Lal in lead role including ‘Bro Daddy’, ‘Twelfth Man’, ‘Alone’ and ‘Monster’ were also said to be released digitally.

With the intervention of Kerala’s Minister for Culture Saji Cherian the issues with the exhibitors have finally been resolved and now the film will hit the screens on the 02nd of December. The film will first release in theaters and later will follow the OTT route. Mohan Lal has also announced that the film will be having a theatrical release first.

‘Marakkar’ is said to be the costliest film made in Malayalam film industry with a budget of 100 crores. The film is being written and directed by Priyadarshan and stars Mohan Lal, Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Suhasini, Pranav Mohan Lal, Siddique and others in prominent roles.
