After essaying comic roles in ‘Operation Alamelamma’ and other films, Sandalwood actor Rishi is all set to shock the audiences with his performance in a hard hitting revenge drama. This time it is not a film, but the actor has made his debut in OTT with a new web series called ‘Shaitan’.
‘Shaitan’ is all set to stream from the 15th of June in Disney Hotstar Plus. The web series directed by Mahi Raghav has been primarily shot in Telugu and will be dubbed and released in other languages also.
Speaking to Kannada Screens about acting a Telugu web series, ‘till now I have not ventured to other languages, nor have I asked anybody for work outside. But they approached me seeing my work in OTT. When I got a call from them, I was very much surprised. I have not done such a character and this is a character which is very sharp in contrast to what I have done in the past. I read the script and I was blown away’ says Rishi.
‘Shaitan’ is a metaphor of what the society brings out of us says Rishi. ‘This is a realistic web series in the background of Naxalism. The series is about how some families got affected. I play the role of Bali and It is about how circumstances push him to do what he never thought. My character is not only grey shaded, but also complex. Most of the series has been shot in and around Madanapalli’ says Rishi.
The web series stars Rishi, Shirley, Jaffer, Devayani, Ravi Kaale, Manikantan, Prasanna and others. Mahi Raghav apart from directing the show has scripted it also.
Meanwhile, the actor is currently busy with untitled film being directed by Prashanth Rajappa. Rishi has also joined hands with director Nandish for a new film to be launched on June 02nd. Rishi’s other film ‘Ramana Avatara’ is also likely to be released in June.
