Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ starring Alia Bhatt has a new release date. The film which was supposed to release on the 06^th of January has been pushed to 18^th February 2022.

Earlier, Alia’s two big films were supposed to release in a day’s gap. While, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was announced to release on the 06^th of January, her other film with S S Rajamouli, ‘RRR’ was scheduled to release the next day (07^th of January). Now the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi’ have decided to avoid the clash and has changed the release date. The film will now release worldwide on 18^th of February and the makers have officially announced the new release date in social media.

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is a biographical crime drama, based on the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ written by S Hussain Zaidi. The film tells the story of Ganga a simple girl from Kathiawad, who is sold to prostitution in Kamathipura, a red light area. How Gangubai becomes the queen of Kamathipura forms the crux of the film. The film is originally made in Hindi and dubbed to Telugu and other languages.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali apart from penning the script, composing music and directing the film, has also produced the film with Jayantilal Gada of PEN Films.

Alia Bhatt is seen in the role of Gangubai along with Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Huma Qureshi and guest appearances from Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi.
