Five films of Mohan Lal including the most anticipated costume drama ‘Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham’ (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea) is said to have direct OTT release rather than a theatrical release.

‘Marakkar’ was supposed to release in March last year. However, due to the pandemic the film’s release was delayed multiple times. Now the film Is ready for a release, but due to an issue about the money sharing between the producer and the exhibitors in Kerala, the producer has opted for a direct OTT release.

‘Marakkar’ is said to be the costliest film made in Malayalam film industry with a budget of 100 crores. As the exhibitors were not ready for a compromise, producer Antony Perumbavoor has decided to go for a direct OTT release.

Not only ‘Marakkar’, four other films of Mohan Lal in lead role are also said to have opted for an OTT release. Besides ‘Marakkar’, ‘Bro Daddy’, ‘Twelfth Man’, ‘Alone’ and an untitled movie directed by Vysakh will also be released digitally.
