Comedy actor Chikkanna who turned hero with the recently launched ‘Upadhyaksha’ says that he will not stick to only hero roles, but also ready to do supporting roles in the future.
Chikkanna came to Sandalwood a decade ago and got famous for his comic roles. Though he got offers to do hero roles in few films, the actor shied away from doing hero roles and continued doing supporting roles. Now though the actor has turned hero, he says he will continue doing supporting roles also.
‘I got many offers as hero. But I was not confident. Here the story is not only good, but we have a good team. So, I accepted to be a hero of this film. Normally, these kinds of films are made in a limited budget. But this film is made in a big budget. I don’t know my market and we don’t how my films can earn. Yet, the producers is making the film in a grand scale’ says Chikkanna.
The comic actor says he has been doing a lot of preparations for his role. I have been doing workout for my role in the film. Apart from it, I have been observing many heroes. Actually I am not a hero in this film. I once again play a comedy character. Usually, I have around 15 scenes in a film. Here I have some 40 plus scenes. The film is expected to complete by August and release by year end’ says Chikkanna.
Chikkanna says he didn’t have the confidence to play hero till now. ‘Though I have been in the film industry for so many years, I didn’t have the confidence till now. Now I have the confidence. I will continue as a hero from now on. If I get offers for supporting roles also, I will continue. I want to do all kinds of roles’ concludes the actor.
‘Upadhyaksha’ is a sequel to 2014 hit ‘Adhyaksha’. The sequel starts from where the original ends. ‘Upadhyaksha’ stars Ravishankar, Tabla Nani, Sadhu Kokila, Karisubbu, Dharmanna, Malaika and others in prominent roles. The film is being produced by Umapathi Srinivas Gowda and directed by Anil Kumar
