The Bharatiya Janata Party has named actor Jaggesh and Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as its candidates for the Rajya Sabha election from Karnataka.
Jaggesh was earlier a Member of Legislative Council from the BJP. After his term, he was given a Legislative Assembly ticket from Yeshwanthpur Constituency. But he lost to S T Somashekhar from Congress. After that the actor was made a spokesperson of the party.
Now in a surprising move, the actor who hails from the Vokkaliga Community has been nominated for the Rajya Sabha seat. Sources say, the party is planning to utilize Jaggesh’s services during the forthcoming MLA elections especially in the Vokkaliga-dominated constituencies as he has a good following.
Nirmala Sitharaman was earlier nominated for Rajya Sabha in Karnataka earlier. She has been re-nominated to contest from the state.
Jaggesh has completed working for ‘Thotapuri 1 and 2’, ‘Raghavendra Stores’ and ‘Ranganayaka’ and is waiting for the release of the films.
