‘Bandhana’ to get a sequel after 37 years

‘Bandhana’, one of the iconic films of Kannada cinema is all set to have a sequel now. Veteran director S V Rajendra Singh Babu who directed the original will be directing the sequel called ‘Bandhana 2’ and the film will be officially launched on his birthday on the 22nd of October.

Dr Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini starrer ‘Bandhana’ was released in 1984 and the film to become a blockbuster. The film is said to have ran for 100 days in 18 theaters and was also remade in Tamil as ‘Prema Pasam’.

For some time, Rajendra Singh Babu has been saying that he is planning to do a sequel of the film. The original story was based on a novel by well known author Usha Navarathnaram, while the sequel is a fictional story. The second part of the film continues, from where the first part ended.

Suhasini, Jaijagadish and others who played prominent roles in the first part will continue here also. Rajendra Singh Babu’s son Aditya will be the protagonist in the film and will be essaying the role of Suhasini’s son in the film. Rajendra Singh Babu has already completed the scripting and is busy scouting locations for the film.

Well known cinematographer Anaji Nagaraj is producing the film apart from handling the cinematography. More details about the cast and crew are yet awaited.
