Akshay Kumar recently completed the shooting of ‘Cindrella’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and is looking forward to the release of ‘Sooryavanshi’ in November. Meanwhile, the actor has joined hands with Anand L Rai for a new film called ‘Gorkha’.

‘Gorkha’ is based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a legendary officer of the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army (05th Gorkha Rifles). Akshay will be essaying the role of Cardozo who fought in the 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars. Akshay apart from acting in the film is also presenting it.

Akshay Kumar took to social media to announce his latest film with a poster. ‘Sometimes you come across stories so inspiring that you just want to make them. ‘Gorkha’ on the life of legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo is such a film. Honoured to essay the role of an icon and present this special film.

This is the third time that Anand L Rai and Akshay Kumar are coming together after ‘Atrangi Re’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’. The film is jointly produced by Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films. The film is being directed by National Award winner Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. The film is expected to go on floors soon.
